Katsuyama Dinosaur Fossil Excavation Experience

At the fossil excavation experience site near the Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum, you can experience searching for fossils by breaking rocks from actual dinosaur fossil-bearing layers with a hammer and chisel. Plant and shell fossils are often found, and if you're lucky, you can discover dinosaur bone fragments. Specialist staff provide safety instruction and teach you how to identify fossils. Participation is available from age 4. Some of the fossils you find can be taken home, making it perfect for children's summer vacation research projects.
