Autumn Leaves Corridor of Engaru's Ganbō Rock
遠軽町, Hokkaido
A panorama of autumn leaves in the Yubetsu River valley viewed from the 78-meter-tall giant rock, Ganbō Rock
Engaru's symbol, 'Ganbō Rock,' is a 78-meter-tall giant rock formed by columnar jointing. Come autumn, the Yubetsu River valley spreading below transforms into a breathtaking panorama of red and yellow as Japanese maples and rowan trees turn their fall colors, creating a landscape like a carpet. The hiking trail to the summit is well-maintained, and wonderful views can be enjoyed from the observation deck along the way. The best time to see the autumn leaves is from late September to early October.
