Katsuura Morning Market in Katsuura City, Chiba Prefecture, has been running for over 400 years and is one of Japan's three major morning markets alongside Wajima and Takayama. In the town enveloped by early morning sunrise glow, local fishermen and farmers display fresh seafood and agricultural products—a truly living landscape of Boso. Dried fish, homemade local side dishes, and seasonal flowers also line the stalls, and warm interactions with local people are another appeal. After visiting the morning market, a stroll through the alleyways of this port town is also recommended.
