Assabu town is known as the only place in Hokkaido where sweet persimmons fruit. Persimmons grown taking advantage of the warm climate of the Hiyama region are small but have concentrated sweetness. In autumn, in addition to persimmon harvesting experiences, the town famous as the birthplace of Makaim potatoes also offers potato digging. At the harvest festival, locally-grown fresh vegetables are sold directly and dishes made with Assabu ingredients are served, allowing you to fully enjoy autumn in a farming village.
