Akita Chokai Mountain Sunrise Climbing
The magnificent sunrise rising over the Sea of Japan viewed from the summit of Dewa Fuji, Chokai Mountain
At an elevation of 2,236 meters, Chokai Mountain is called 'Dewa Fuji' and is the second highest peak in the Tohoku region. A sunrise climb that starts after an overnight stay at a mountain lodge and aims for the summit in early morning allows you to witness the magnificent sight of the sun rising from the Sea of Japan dyeing the Shonai and Akita Plains golden. The summit floating above the sea of clouds is like a heavenly world. In summer, the contrast between the snow fields remaining near the summit and the alpine plants is beautiful, continuing to captivate climbers.
