Hattcho Miso Warehouse Tour

The Hattcho Miso warehouse in Okazaki City is a traditional brewery continuing since the Edo period. The brewing method is impressive—giant wooden barrels are stacked with as much as 3 tons of stones in a cone shape and naturally fermented for over 2 years. The free warehouse tour guides you through the interior while craftsmen explain the process, and at the end you can taste miso soup and miso dengaku. The shop also sells seasonings and sweets made with Hattcho Miso. It's a spot where you can experience the depth of miso culture.
