Zentsuji Temple Lodging Experience
A temple lodging experience at Zentsuji, the birthplace of Kōbō Daishi. Calm your mind through morning prayers and Buddhist vegetarian cuisine in this extraordinary way of living.
Zentsuji, known as the birthplace of Kōbō Daishi Kūkai, is the 75th temple of the 88 temples of Shikoku and the head temple of the Zentsuji branch of Shingon Buddhism. Here you can stay in temple lodging and experience the same daily rhythm as monks. During early morning devotions, you chant sutras in the main hall and purify your body through Buddhist vegetarian meals. The kaidan meguri (ordination chamber walk) offers a training experience walking through pitch-dark underground passages. Time spent away from daily life, confronting your true self, may be the mental detox that modern people truly need.
