The ice trees of the Zao Range, a winter spectacle, are natural artworks that grow as ice and snow accumulate on Aomori firs. Known as 'Snow Monsters' for their strange appearance, they are recognized worldwide as a rare natural phenomenon. Riding the Zao Ropeway allows you to view the ice tree field spreading around Jizo-sancho Station up close. At night, the area is illuminated, creating a fantastical landscape. The best season to view is from late January to late February, and many people enjoy it alongside skiing.
