Yoichi Nikka Whisky Distillery
A whisky distillery that also served as the setting for the NHK morning drama 'Massan'. You can enjoy tours and tastings.
Yoichi Distillery is the original distillery of Nikka Whisky, founded in 1934 by Masataka Totsugane, the father of Japanese whisky. Blessed with a cool climate similar to Scotland and pristine water, Yoichi is the ideal place for whisky-making. In the stone distillery buildings, the traditional Scottish coal-fired direct-heat distillation is still conducted today. On the free guided tours, you can view the distillation process, and at the end enjoy tastings of Single Malt Yoichi and others. It is also known as the setting of the NHK serialized TV drama 'Massan'.
