Yamagata Cherry Picking
Cherry picking in Yamagata, Japan's leading cherry production region. Enjoy premium varieties like Satoh Nishiki on an all-you-can-eat basis.
Yamagata Prefecture accounts for approximately 70% of Japan's cherry production, making it the country's leading production region. In orchards throughout the prefecture, including in Sagae City, you can enjoy cherry picking from early June to early July. The highest-grade variety, Satoh Nishiki, has an exquisite balance of sweetness and acidity, and the luxury of enjoying freshly picked cherries straight from the tree is exceptional. Many orchards allow you to compare multiple varieties such as Benishuho and Napoleon. In Sagae, the Cherry Village, you can also enjoy shopping for souvenirs and gelato at Cherry Land.
