Enjoy a papermaking experience in the birthplace of Tosa washi. Learn traditional techniques directly from master craftsmen, carrying over 1000 years of history.
Ino Town in Kochi Prefecture is a production area for Tosa washi with over 1000 years of history. At the Paper Museum, you can learn about the history and manufacturing process of Tosa washi, as well as experience papermaking firsthand. Under the guidance of master craftsmen, take on the challenge of authentic papermaking using kozo (mulberry bark). You can create original works by adding wildflowers and colored paper to the washi you've made, and take them home after drying. It's a precious place where you can deeply understand Japanese paper culture, which is also related to UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, through hands-on experience.
