Towada City Museum of Contemporary Art
A contemporary art museum with world-renowned artworks displayed throughout the city. Works by Yayoi Kusama and Ron Mueck are also featured.
Opened in 2008, the Towada City Museum of Contemporary Art is attracting attention as the core facility of the 'Arts Towada' project, which aims to transform the entire city into a stage for art. Permanent works by world-renowned artists such as Yayoi Kusama, Ron Mueck, and Yoshitomo Nara are displayed in individual gallery spaces (white cubes), one work per space, creating a unique style. Across from the museum is an art plaza where outdoor works can be viewed free of charge. The building itself, designed by architect Ritsue Nishizawa, is also an artwork.
