Located in Tono City, Iwate Prefecture, 'Tono Furusato Village' is an experiential facility where you can immerse yourself in the world of Yanagita Kunio's 'Tales of Tono.' Nambu magari-ya farmhouses from the Edo and Meiji periods have been relocated and restored to recreate the rural landscapes of the past. The facility offers abundant traditional village experience programs including straw crafts, charcoal burning, and mochi pounding. You can listen to storytellers share old tales of Tono and learn about local legends featuring the Zashiki-warashi and Kappa. With beautiful seasonal pastoral landscapes, it's a place where you can experience Japan's primordial scenery.
