Shizuoka Tea Picking Experience

Shizuoka Prefecture is Japan's largest producer of Japanese tea. In the tea gardens of the Makinohara Plateau and Kawane district, you can experience tea picking during the spring new tea season. Dressed in tea maiden attire, you enter the tea fields to hand-pick the tender new buds (one bud, two leaves), and then learn the hand-rolling tea production process. The taste of tea you've picked yourself is exceptional.
