Ichibancho Shopping Street · Christmas Road

Located in central Sendai, Ichibancho Shopping Street is one of Tohoku's largest shopping areas, featuring multiple connected arcades. Spanning approximately 1.5 km, including Christmas Road, Marble Road Omachi, and Sun Mall Ichibancho, the area is lined with fashion boutiques, variety shops, cafes, and restaurants. It serves as the main venue for the Sendai Tanabata Festival, where lavish Tanabata decorations adorn the streets in August. The area is well-stocked with Sendai specialties such as gyutan (beef tongue) and sasacamaboko (bamboo leaf-wrapped fish cake), and is beloved by both tourists and local residents.
