Maruyama Zoo

Maruyama Zoo is a beloved zoo of Sapporo residents that opened in 1951. Approximately 170 species and 900 individual animals are kept, and in the Polar Bear Building, you can observe polar bears swimming in the pool up close from an underwater tunnel. In the Asia Zone, you can encounter rare animals such as red pandas and snow leopards, and Hokkaido-native animals such as brown bears and sika deer are also on display. In the petting zoo area, you can interact with small animals, which is very popular with children. There's also a playground with play equipment in the park, where you can enjoy a full day with your family.
