Sandankyo is a grand gorge spanning approximately 16km located in the northwestern part of Hiroshima Prefecture, designated as a Special Place of Scenic Beauty by the nation. Trekking through the "Five Great Views" of Kurofu, Sarutobi, Nidantaki, Sandantaki, and Mitsutaki is a luxurious course where you can enjoy diverse gorge scenery. Particularly at Kurofu, you can experience a fantastical journey riding a hand-poled ferry boat through an emerald-green abyss. Also renowned as a famous autumn foliage destination, the gorge displays spectacular views colored in red and yellow during fall. A shortened course for beginners is also available for those seeking a more casual experience.
