Sakunami Onsen Iwamatsu Ryokan

Sakunami Onsen, known as Sendai City's hidden gem, is a historic hot spring destination that opened in 1796. Iwamatsu Ryokan is the oldest ryokan among them, and its specialty is the natural stone bath set along the source of the Hirose River. The open-air bath reached by descending stairs along the gorge truly captures the essence of a secret hot spring. The simple hot spring water is gentle on the skin and is renowned as a beauty bath. With excellent access at just 40 minutes by car from central Sendai, day-use bathing is also available. The scenery of the gorge is especially spectacular during the seasons of fresh green foliage and autumn leaves.
