Okinawa Eisa Experience
A cultural program to experience the taiko drums and dance of Eisa, Okinawa's traditional dance, and feel the dynamic energy of Ryukyuan culture.
Eisa is a traditional Bon dance performed during Okinawa's Obon season, characterized by dynamic and energetic dancing synchronized to the powerful rhythms of Paaranku and Eisa taiko drums. Okinawa City is known as 'the Eisa town,' and the Eisa Kaikan museum offers opportunities to learn about its history and culture, as well as programs where visitors can actually play the drums and experience dancing themselves. During the lunar August Obon period, authentic Eisa performances are showcased across the region, and the All-Island Eisa Festival is a major event that attracts approximately 300,000 visitors.
