Tsuboya Yachimun Street
Meet beautiful yachimun on Tsuboya's pottery street with approximately 300 years of history. Pottery painting and pottery-making experiences are also popular.
Tsuboya Yachimun Street is the center of Okinawan pottery, which began when the Ryukyu Kingdom government gathered kilns from various places about 300 years ago. More than 20 kilns and galleries line a stone-paved street of approximately 400 meters, where you can encounter diverse works ranging from traditional rough ware and refined ware to modern design yachimun. Pottery painting and Shisa-making experiences are also popular, allowing you to create one-of-a-kind pieces. These warm and cozy Okinawan-style vessels are highly popular as souvenirs, and there is joy in searching for everyday-use pieces.
