Kōchi Sunday Market
Kōchi's Sunday Market with over 300 years of history. One of Japan's largest street markets with approximately 400 stalls lining a 1.3 km street.
The Sunday Market held every Sunday at Kōchi Castle's Otemachi Street has been a historic street market continuing for over 300 years since 1690. Approximately 400 stalls line the 1.3 km street, displaying local fresh vegetables and fruits, homemade country sushi, taro tempura, dried fish, and other Tosa specialties in abundance. With local farmers and fishermen selling directly, the freshness is outstanding. You can experience Kōchi's food culture while enjoying food as you walk, and from early morning the market bustles with locals and tourists—a vibrant marketplace full of energy.
