Aquamarine Fukushima
An interactive aquarium themed on Fukushima's sea. Hugely popular with children for its large tank recreating the Tidal Front where currents meet, as well as fishing experiences.
Located in Iwaki City, Aquamarine Fukushima is an interactive aquarium themed on the marine ecosystem of Fukushima Prefecture. Its signature feature is a large triangular tunnel-shaped tank recreating the 'Tidal Front Sea' where the Kuroshio and Oyashio currents collide, with approximately 800 species of marine life on display. Outdoors is an artificial rocky shore called 'Janome Beach' where children can actually touch marine creatures. The experience of fishing at the fish pond and cooking and eating the catch on-site is also popular. This is a next-generation aquarium that emphasizes environmental education.
