Ishizuchi Mountain Trekking
Mountain climbing to Ishizuchi Mountain, the highest peak in western Japan. The spectacular views from the 1982m summit and the thrill of the chain sections are the highlights.
Ishizuchi Mountain, at 1982m elevation, is the highest peak in western Japan and is counted as one of Japan's 100 Famous Mountains. Since a ropeway can take you up to the 1300m elevation point, access is relatively convenient, and from there you can enjoy about 2-3 hours of hiking to the summit. Along the way to the summit, there are 3 chain sections where you can experience the thrill of climbing nearly vertical rock walls using chains (with a bypass route available). The 360-degree panorama from the summit, Tengu Peak, is awe-inspiring, and during autumn foliage season, the mountainside is painted red and yellow with spectacular views.
