Iriomote Island Mangrove Kayaking
A grand adventure exploring the mangrove forests of Iriomote Island, a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site, by kayak. Waterfall trekking is also popular.
Iriomote Island is a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site where approximately 90% of the island is covered with subtropical primeval forests. Tours that kayak through the mangrove forests of the Nakama River and Urauchi River are popular. Paddling through Japan's largest mangrove forest is like a jungle expedition. After kayaking, there are also tours that combine trekking to Pinaisara Falls and Kampire Falls, allowing you to fully enjoy nature all day long. It's a valuable experience where you can also learn about the ecosystem inhabited by endemic fauna and flora such as the Iriomote cat.
