Hokkaido University is a comprehensive university located a 7-minute walk from Sapporo Station, with a vast campus approximately 38 times the size of the Tokyo Dome. The campus is open to the public, and the poplar and ginkgo tree-lined avenues are known as representative scenic spots of Sapporo. Particularly in late October, the golden leaves of the ginkgo avenue are spectacular, with many visitors enjoying the golden tunnel. There are many attractions to see, including the Central Lawn with Dr. Clark's bust, the historic Former Faculty of Science Building, and the Hokkaido University Museum, allowing visitors to experience the atmosphere of Sapporo, the city of academia, firsthand.
