Hakodate Bay Area lined with red brick warehouses. Shopping for sundries and sweets is enjoyable.
Hakodate Bay Area is a district of commercial facilities renovated from red brick warehouses built from the late Meiji through the Taisho period. Centered around the Kanemori Red Brick Warehouse, it features numerous shops selling Hokkaido crafts, glass art, and sweets. Beer halls serving local Hakodate beer and restaurants offering fresh seafood are also plentiful. The harbor-facing location exudes exotic charm, and the illuminated warehouses at dusk make an ideal photo spot. Located at the base of Hakodate Mountain, pairing your visit with night city viewing is also recommended.
