A craft village where you can experience over 20 types of hands-on activities. Enjoy unique Gunma cultural experiences such as konjac making and woodworking.
Takumi-no-Sato is a cluster of hands-on tourist facilities spread across the Sugawa district of Minakami town. Over 20 workshops are scattered throughout the satoyama countryside, equivalent to about 70 Tokyo Domes in area, offering diverse hands-on experiences including konjac making, bamboo crafts, straw crafts, and cloisonné enamel work. The konjac making experience, featuring Gunma's specialty, is particularly popular, allowing visitors to taste their freshly made creations. It's recommended to explore the area by rental bicycle through the scenery that retains the atmosphere of a post town along the old Mikuni Kaido. Dining establishments serving meals made with fresh local vegetables are also available on-site.
