Sukayu Hot Spring

Located in Hakkoda Mountain in Aomori City, Sukayu Hot Spring is a historic hot spring that opened in 1684 and was designated as Japan's first National Health Resort Hot Spring in 1954. Its renowned Sennin-furo is a mixed-gender public bath boasting an expansive area of 160 tatami mats, where strong acidic sulfur hot water flows abundantly. It is said to be effective for rheumatism, skin diseases, and gynecological ailments, and continues to attract many thermal cure guests. In winter, it is one of Japan's most snowy regions, with snowfall sometimes exceeding 5 meters. It also serves as a base for climbing Hakkoda Mountain and skiing.
