Kiritanpo Making Experience
Experience making kiritanpo at Ōdate, the birthplace of kiritanpo. You can enjoy the process of pounding and grilling rice.
In Ōdate, Akita Prefecture, said to be the birthplace of kiritanpo, you can experience making kiritanpo at a local experience facility. You will experience the authentic process of half-pounding freshly cooked rice, wrapping it around a cedar stick, and slowly grilling it over the charcoal fire of an irori. You can also savor 'miso tanpo,' where freshly grilled kiritanpo is brushed with miso and eaten, as well as kiritanpo hot pot simmered in Hinai-jidori chicken broth. It's an experience program unique to Ōdate where you can enjoy learning about Akita's food culture.
