Abashiri Drift Ice Walk

Drift Ice Walk is a winter-only activity unique to Abashiri where you walk on drift ice pushed into the Sea of Okhotsk while wearing specialized dry suits. Under the guidance of a guide, you can experience things that can only be done here—walking across white ice fields and floating in the sea between ice floes. Rare creatures such as pteropods inhabit the waters beneath the drift ice, and if you're lucky, you may be able to observe them. Since the dry suit covers your entire body, you can enjoy this experience comfortably even in extremely cold environments.
